Nombe (pronouced "nom-bay") WAS New Zealand's first Japanese stand bar or "Tachinomi", translated literally -drinking while standing up

Previously the custom of drinking while standing was limited to the Japanese salary man. However more and more trendy bars in Japan and restaurants have been setting up their own standing counters, which have proven particularly popular among young women.
Tachinomi encourages patrons to get to know their drinking neighbours as there is no fixed seating and is a great place to stop on the way to the theatre, movies or meeting place for friends.
We have a great beer and wine list and also serve snacks and daily specials (because in Japan you always eat when you drink!)
